COD Women's Golf wraps up 3rd place at OEC Championships

COD Women's Golf finished 3rd as a team, qualifying the Roadrunners for the SoCal Regional tournament and Demi Preece was named All-Conference.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its twelfth event, as Desert traveled to their tenth and final Orange Empire Conference (OEC) event of the season, this time the event was at the Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course in Irvine. Desert would finish with 342 points, which was 13 strokes ahead of fourth place finisher, Mt. San Jacinto. Saddleback would win the event with 325 points.

Freshman Jensen Kelly (Imperial (SK) Imperial School) who shot an 84 on Monday, followed that performance up on Wednesday, leading the way for the Roadrunners. Kelly would not only drop seven strokes from round one, but she also grabbed her best score of the season, finishing with a 77. Her effort on day two, gave her a third-place finish individually. Sophomore Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) shot an 87 on Monday and followed that up with an 83 in Wednesday's Final Round, she would be named 2nd team All-OEC. Freshman Karla Garcia (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 93 on Monday, then dropped five strokes from her scorecard on Wednesday to shoot an 88 and sophomore Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) shot a 97 on Monday, then dropped three strokes in Wednesday's Final Round, to shoot a 94.

COD will make their next appearance at El Prado Golf Club (Butterfield Stage Course) in Chino on Sunday, November 6 as they participate in the SoCal Regional Final and look to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship.
