COD Women’s Golf: Preese and Kelly headed to State Championship

COD Women's Golf finished 6th at the two-day SoCal Regional Championship, with three golfers setting season bests, once the event had concluded, Desert would send two Roadrunners to the CCCAA State Championship.

The Roadrunners sent all six participants to its final team event of the season, the two-day SoCal Regional Championship. Desert traveled to the par-72, El Prado Golf Club (Butterfield Stage Course) in Chino. Desert would finish with 701 points (346 / 355), which was 22 strokes ahead of seventh place finisher, Moorpark. Saddleback would win the event with 637 points.

Sophomore Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) led the way for the Roadrunners, shooting a 7-over, 79 on day one and an 86 on day two, giving her a total of 165 for the tournament. Her 10th place finish guarantees her a spot in the CCCAA State Championships. Freshman Jensen Kelly (Imperial (SK) Imperial School) shot an 86 on day one and an 85 on day two, giving her a total of 171 for the tournament. Her 14th place finish places her as an alternative in the CCCAA State Championships.

Freshman Daneah Jackson (Cathedral City H.S.) shot a season best 98 on day one and freshman Sam Miller (Valley Center H.S.) shot a season second-best 92, also on day one of the tournament. Sophomore Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) shot a season second-best 90, also on day one of the tournament. COD will make their next appearance at Morro Bay Golf Club in the Central California coastal town of Morro Bay, the Roadrunners will make the five-and-a-half-hour drive to play in the two-day CCCAA State Championship, which begins on Sunday, November 13.
