COD Women’s Soccer: Murguia & Carrillo sign letters with Kansas Wesleyan

COD Women's Soccer midfielder Ashley Murguia (Indio H.S.) and defender Alejandra Carrillo (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) have signed letters of intent with Kansas Wesleyan University.

Murguia, from Indio H.S., was named First Team All-IEAC in 2021, finishing second on the team in goals scored with 10. The 5-foot 6 sophomore repeated as a First Team All-IEAC selection, having done so during her freshman campaign in 2019. Murguia had two game winning goals on the season and two multi-goal games, including scoring both goals in a road win at Compton on September 24.

Carrillo, from Desert Hot Springs H.S., was named Second Team All-IEAC in 2021. The 5-foot 4 sophomore started 10 games for the Roadrunners, playing in 15 of 20 games in 2021.

Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas, which is about 85 miles north of Wichita and about 180 miles west of Kansas City, Missouri. The KWU Coyotes play in the Graves Family Sports Complex and the team is coached by head coach, Henrik Sohn, in his 3rd year with the Coyotes. In the 2021 season, the Coyotes concluded the year with a 11-7-2 overall record, with a 7-3-2 record in Conference play, finishing the season in the Semifinals of the Conference Tournament. KWU is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of NAIA.
