In Coach Rivas' first season, he had 5 players sign to four-year schools, a number which will grow at the conclusion of every season and in 2023, Women's Soccer had 4 First Team All-IEAC selections and 4 Second Team All-IEAC selections. Desert finished the regular season with a record 11-6-3 overall and 4-3-3 in conference. Coach Rivas led the Roadrunners to a 3rd place finish in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC). The Roadrunners collected a tie for fourth most team wins since 1997. The 1997 Roadrunners, in their first season of existence, went 11-9-2.

Prior to joining the College of the Desert Athletics Department, Ramon Rivas was an assistant with the East Los Angeles College Men’s Soccer team in Monterey Park. After four seasons with the ELAC Huskies, he joined the coaching staff at the Cerritos Falcons Men's Soccer program in Norwalk and was simultaneously serving as an assistant coach on the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles staff in University Hills.

His high school coaching credentials include two seasons as the head coach with the Matadors of San Gabriel High School in Alhambra, five years as the junior varsity coach with the Lancers of Bell Gardens High School and has also been the head coach for A.S. Los Angeles of the National Professional Soccer League and United Premier Soccer League.

Coach Rivas earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Cal State Los Angeles and is currently working on his Master’s degree. Coach Rivas is 30 and resides in Los Angeles.
