2021 Season in Review - COD Volleyball

Under sixth-year head coach Detlev Rothe, Desert finished the regular season with a record 11-9 overall and 8-2 in conference. The Roadrunners placed 2nd in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC).

COD (8-8; 5-1) moved back to .500 on the season, but had to fight their way back after an easy first set, the visitors gave everything the Roadrunners could handle in sets 2 and 3, but in the end, Desert grabbed its 15th straight win over the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (1-10; 0-5), 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-20).

COD (7-8; 4-1) made quick work of what was expected to be a much more competitive match-up between similar lineups, as the Roadrunners chased away the Cerro Coso Coyotes of Ridgecrest (4-10; 2-3), 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-20).

COD (6-8; 3-1) opened up their final home stand of 2021 with a win over a team they had not faced since 2003, defeating the Barstow Vikings (0-4; 0-4), 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-14).

COD (5-7; 2-0) grabbed a share of the Conference lead with a huge win in front of the home fans, knocking off the Chaffey Panthers (5-10; 3-1) 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-19 & 15-10).

COD (4-7) took the match to the limit, fighting back to win a hard fought fourth to force a fifth, but fell late to the Riverside City Tigers (6-8), 3-2 (25-17, 16-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13).
