COD Women’s Volleyball sweeps away San Bernardino, 3-0

COD (4-6; 1-0) opened up Conference play, on the road, with a 14th straight victory over the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (1-6; 0-1), 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22).

An inauspicious start for the Wolverines to begin IEAC play, which led to a truly positive result for Desert. Sophomore libero Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) led the team with 15 digs and grabbed 1 service aces. Freshman setter Kianna Diaz (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team with 39 set assists, grabbing 1 service aces and 3 digs.

College of the Desert is 31-28 all-time against the Wolverines, but the Roadrunners have not lost to San Bernardino Valley since October 9, 2013. Out of the last 14 matches, Desert has a very positive 42-4 set record over the Wolverines.

Freshman outside hitter Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) had 15 kills, 3 service aces and 12 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Jaliana Davidson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) had 2 service aces and 7 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Yesenia Ramirez (Indio Shadow Hills) led the team with 13 kills and 12 digs. Freshman middle blocker Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) had 1 solo block and 1 block assist.

Freshman middle blocker Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green, MO) had 5 kills, 1 service ace, 2 digs, 1 solo block and 1 block assist.

The next game for Desert is at Mt. San Jacinto, where they will play the Eagles on October 8th at 5 p.m.
