COD Women’s Volleyball sweeps past the Rams again, 3-0

COD (12-7; 7-0) remained undefeated in IEAC play, continuing their dominance of Conference opponents after grabbing their eighth sweep of the season, knocking off the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (2-9, 2-6), 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-10).

Tonight's "Trick-Or-Treat Game" gave Desert their fifth consecutive sweep over the Rams and seventh victory out of the last eight games played over Victor Valley, stretching back to the 2015 season. Freshman outside hitter Grace Abrams (Fountain Hills (AZ) H.S.) had 5 kills and an assist block and freshman outside hitter Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) had 3 kills, 9 digs and a service ace. Sophomore middle blocker Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green, MO) had 6 kills and led the team with 2 solo blocks and freshman libero Denise Lupian (Indio Shadow Hills) had 8 digs. Freshman outside hitter Joselyn Nunez (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team with 9 kills and had 7 digs and sophomore middle blocker Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) had 4 kills, a solo block and 2 assist blocks. Freshman opposite Liana Whitley (Palm Desert H.S.) had 5 digs and freshman outside hitter Melanie Hernandez (Thermal Coachella Valley) had 7 kills and an assist block. Sophomore setter Kianna Diaz (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team with 32 set assists and also team lead with 11 digs.

The Roadrunners first game in program history against the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville was in 1976. Since the Roadrunners first contest against Victor Valley, Desert has a 20-40 all-time record against the Rams, including a 12-18 record at home. The Roadrunners next encounter will be at home against the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Friday, November 4th at 5:00p. The Roadrunners first played against Mt. San Jacinto in 1984, holding a 41-22 overall record against the Eagles and a 21-10 record in Palm Desert.
