COD Men’s Tennis will host #5 Lasers this Tuesday in SoCal Quarterfinals

The COD Men's Tennis team looks for you to get loud and #CODProud this Tuesday, April 10th at 2 p.m. as your Roadrunners host the Irvine Valley Lasers on our very own tennis courts and the event is free to the public.

The 2018 CCCAA Dual Team Tennis Regional Championship bracket is located HERE

The Roadrunners have secured the #4 seed in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Team Quarterfinals and will host the defending "3-Peat" State Champions, the Irvine Valley Lasers. Under the tutelage of fourth-year head coach Ken Thomas, the #4 seeded COD Men's Tennis team ended the 2018 season undefeated in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play. The last time Desert hosted a Regional Quarterfinals match was in 2015.

Thomas has guided the team to a 14-2 overall record and a 12-0 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 14 of their final 15 games. They were rewarded with the #4 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Desert will face off with an Irvine Valley team which finished the regular season with a record of 6-9, the Lasers ended the 2018 season in third place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a record of 6-4. The Lasers started the season 0-5, and have won 6 of their last 10 games. The Lasers only return one player from last year's 3-Peat State Championship team, Ardi Safi and are coached by veteran head coach, in his fifth season at the helm, Ross Duncan.

The Roadrunners most recently faced the Lasers in the 2017 season opener on Valentine's Day, where Desert made the road trip to Irvine, falling to the Lasers, 9-0.

Men's Tennis brings along a list of heavy hitters to the match on Tuesday, including undefeated freshman Kyryll Kryvchun (Vancouver (BC) Learning Network) who remained undefeated throughout all of 2018, in both Conference and non-Conference singles play, where he finished the season 15-0.

Sophomore Dimitrije Vukovic (Burnaby (BC) Moscrop Secondary) wrapped up 2018 going 12-3 overall in individual head-to-head matchups, including going 9-1 in the PCAC and freshman Brian Johnson (Palm Springs H.S.) went 10-5 overall, going 9-2 in the PCAC.
