Veikune and Boswell Earn September Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo from women's golf and Kannin Boswell from football for earning the College of the Desert September Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Women's Golf sophomore number one Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo (aka Happy) from Rancho Mirage H.S., played in all four matches during the month of September. The impact player grabbed her second-best score of the season, a 1-over 73 at Soboba Springs tying for 2nd individually and helping the Roadrunners grab their first top team finish at an event since 2019, when Desert won at Ironwood CC on September 20.

Football freshman running back Kannin Boswell from North Sevier H.S. in Salina, Utah got the 2023 season off to a roaring start with 3 of 5 games with 155+ yards of rushing, 9 touchdowns in the month of September, averaging 134 yards (rushing and receiving) per game. A balanced passing attack has forced opposing defenses to stay honest and an amazing offensive line has opened up gigantic holes for Boswell to truck through on his way to this honor.
