Virdin and Baxter Earn December Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Jada Virdin from women's basketball and Jermayn Baxter from men's basketball for earning the College of the Desert December Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Women's Basketball freshman guard Jada Virdin from Indio H.S., started all seven games during the month of December. The impact player averaged 7.4 points per game and 5 total rebounds per game, all while shooting 44.4% from the free throw line. Virdin scored a career high 16 points in a home non-Conference game against Taft on December 20.

Men's Basketball sophomore Jermayn Baxter from Decatur Central H.S. in Indianapolis, Indiana, started all six games in December and has been far and away the leading scorer all season for the Roadrunners. Averaging 16 points per game and 7.3 total rebounds per game, all while shooting 63.8% from the free throw line. Baxter grabbed his second double-double of the season (22 pts/12 reb) on December 8 against LA Valley at the Santa Barbara Tournament.
