Congratulations to Victoria Talamantes from softball and Joseph Rojas from men's basketball for earning the College of the Desert January Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Softball freshman right-handed starting pitcher and first baseman Victoria Talamantes from La Quinta H.S., has pitched 9 of the 11 innings played this season, striking out nine, tossing a complete game and batting .400.

Men's Basketball sophomore guard Joseph Rojas from Palm Desert H.S., started seven of eight games in January and has been far and away the leading three-point shooter all season for the Roadrunners. Averaging 11.6 points per game in the month of January, all while shooting 33.9% (20-59) from beyond the arc. Rojas grabbed four three-pointers in a game four times and scored in double digits five times.
