Women's Soccer Takes Down West LA

PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's soccer benefited from two first-half goals by sophomore midfielder Florangelica Coyote (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) en route to a 4-0 win over visiting West LA this evening in Palm Desert.

Coyote opened the scoring in the game's 30th minute when she settled a nice cross from freshman defender Alexis Wright (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) and fired it into a yawning net. She then added her second goal in the 36th minute, as she finished another nice cross from Wright.

Freshman midfielder Reyna Gutierrez (Desert Hot Springs, CA/Desert Hot Springs) scored following a nice play by freshman forward Madison Decker (Palm Desert, CA/Aquinas HS)in the 57th minute, while sophomore midfielder Monica Monay (Palm Desert, CA/Cathedral City HS) capped off the game's scoring when she finished a pass from sophomore midfielder Brenda Arauz (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS) just seven minutes later.

Freshmen goalkeepers Brianna Lazzarini (Indio, CA/La Quinta HS) and Elizabeth Moreno (Desert Hot Springs, CA/Desert Hot Springs HS) preserved the shutout in net for the Lady Roadrunners.  

College of the Desert (4-2-1) returns to action this Friday, September 18 for a 4 p.m. match against Palomar.
