SAN MARCOS, Calif. - College of the Desert women's soccer suffered a 4-2 setback at the hands of Palomar last Friday evening in San Marcos.
The Lady Roadrunners opened the scoring the game's 15th minute, as sophomore midfielder Monica Monay (Palm Desert, CA/Cathedral City HS) converted on her third penalty kick of the season following a foul in the box drawn by sophomore midfielder Brenda Arauz (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS).
After Palomar quickly tied the game, COD regained the lead in the 48th minute when freshman midfielder Reyna Gutierrez's (Desert Hot Springs, CA/DHSHS) free kick found sophomore midfielder Florangelica Coyote (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) who converted for a 2-1 advantage.
Palomar struck rapidly in the game's final 20 minutes, scoring three times to hold on for the 4-2 victory. Freshman goalkeeper
