PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert women's soccer turned in a strong performance defensively, but fell 1-0 at the hands of visiting Chaffey to open their Foothill Conference slate Friday evening in Palm Desert for Sophomore Night.

Nine Lady Roadrunners were honored before the match, with each turning in valiant efforts throughout.  

Freshman Reyna Gutierrez (Desert Hot Springs, CA/DHSHS) fired one shot, while fellow freshman, Cynthia Hernandez (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS), recorded two shots.  Freshman Brianna Lazzarini (Indio, CA/La Quinta HS) made two saves in net for COD.

The Lady Roadrunners (7-6-1, 0-1) will be home again next Tuesday, October 13 for 2 p.m. Foothill Conference match against San Bernardino Valley.
