Late Runs Doom Baseball in 6-3 Loss to Rio Hondo

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Entering the ninth inning tied 3-3, College of the Desert baseball (13-20, 11-12) surrendered three runs en route to falling 6-3 to visiting Rio Hondo (23-12, 18-5) in yesterday afternoon's Foothill Conference matchup in Palm Desert.

Sophomores Cole Danielson (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS) and Tanner Olthoff (Oceanside, CA/El Camino HS) led the Roadrunner offense with two hits each, with Olthoff adding an RBI.  Danielson scored two runs, while freshmen Jason Nall (Los Angeles, CA/St. Bernard HS) and Trenton Covel (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier HS) recorded one hit and one RBI apiece.  

Sophomore left-hander Dallas Asuncion (Honolulu, HI/Kalani HS) allowed two runs on six hits over his six innings of work.  Freshman right-hander Jake Patterson (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on five hits through three innings of action.  He struck out and walked one.

College of the Desert baseball will wrap up its 2016 season with a 12 p.m. trip to Rio Hondo tomorrow afternoon.
