COD Baseball opens up 2025 with win over Seahawks, 11-2

COD (1-0) used a big 5-run 8th inning to blow open the game and getting an impressive performance on the mound, as the Roadrunners kicked off the 2025 season at home, knocking off the Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks of Wilmington (0-1), 11-2.

Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Colin Plain (Saskatoon (SK) Walter Murray Collegiate) tossed the longest outing of his career (5 innings) and had the second most strikeouts of his career (5) as Plain grabbed the first win of the season. Sophomore left-handed relief pitcher Jacob Glazener (Apache Junction (AZ) H.S.) had a career high 7 strikeouts in 3 innings. Sophomore right-handed relief pitcher James Williams (Perris Citrus Hill) would close the game out in the 9th. Sophomore right fielder Alekzander Bautista (La Quinta H.S.) had a bases loaded double, which scored 3, in the 8th and sophomore left fielder Jackson Martin (Regina (SK) Martin Collegiate) clobbered his first home run of the season. Sophomore shortstop Michael Gonsalez (Harbor City Narbonne) and freshman center fielder Connor Martin (Abbotsford (BC) Yale Secondary) had a pair of hits on the night.

The next game for the Roadrunners will be Saturday, January 25 at 1p when they host LA Harbor again to wrap up the weekend series.
