COD Baseball wins in extras, knocks off Knights, 10-9

COD (2-1) got back into the win column with an impressive come from behind victory, capping off the win with a walk-off sacrifice fly, as the Roadrunners knocked off the San Diego City Knights (0-1), 10-9.

Sophomore left-handed relief pitcher Jacob Glazener (Apache Junction (AZ) H.S.) tossed an absolute gem once again. He threw the final five innings of the game, tossing no hit relief and striking out two. Sophomore shortstop Michael Gonsalez (Harbor City Nathaniel Narbonne) made one huge defensive play after another, all while nursing a hamstring injury, gutting it out until being lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 9th. Sophomore second baseman Victor Esquivel Perez (Yucatan, MEX) clobbered a walk off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th to score freshman center fielder Garrett Houston (Melville (SK) Comprehensive School) from third base, to secure the win.

The next game for the Roadrunners is at the San Diego City Knights on Thursday, January 30 at 1p. Next home game will be on Saturday, February 1 at 1p vs. the Grossmont Griffins of La Mesa.
