Baseball will travel to #1 Mt. SAC on Friday in SoCal Regionals

COD Baseball has claimed the #24 seed and will travel in the opening round of the SoCal Regional playoffs after finishing 2nd in Conference.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. There are no guest passes allowed.

The best-of-3 series will take place on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College at Art Mazmanian Field in Walnut. Friday first pitch of game 1 will be at 2 p.m., Saturday first pitch of game 2 will be at 11 a.m. where the game will be played at Mt. San Antonio College, but the Roadrunners will be the "home" team and if necessary, game 3 will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. The series will also coincide with a regional cool down, as inland Los Angeles County temperatures expected to be 74 on Friday and 69 on Saturday.

Under the tutelage of fifth-year head coach Sam DiMatteo, the #24 seeded Roadrunners Baseball team ended the 2025 season claiming their fourth consecutive playoff berth.

DiMatteo reached a major coaching milestone on Saturday, April 12, 2025, as he earned his 100th career victory with a hard-fought win on the road at Barstow. DiMatteo guided the Roadrunners, finishing to the regular season with a 23-16 overall record and an 16-8 conference record. They were rewarded with the 24 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs along with 3 First Team selections (James Williams, Michael Gonsalez & Connor Martin) and 3 Second Team selections (Caleb Ortiz, Isaac Rodrigues & Victor Esquivel Perez).

Desert will face off with a Mt. San Antonio Mounties team that finished the regular season with a record of 35-5, the Mounties ended the 2025 season as Champions of the South Coast Conference (SCC) ending the season with Conference record of 22-2. The Falcons started the season 7-3 and have won 31 of their last 33 games.

Mt. San Antonio finished the 2024 season in 3rd place in the SCC with a record of 16-8, with an overall record of 30-15. The Mounties were most recently in the playoffs in the 2024 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 7th seed, Mt. San Antonio swept the #18 seeded Allan Hancock Bulldogs, 2 games to 0 (5-1, 12-2) then fell in the Super Regional to the #2 seeded Palomar Comets of San Marcos. The Mounties are coached by John Knott in his 10th season. Knott arrived in 2016 after spending the previous 12 seasons as the head coach at Bonita H.S. in La Verne.

Desert and Mt. San Antonio last played one another on February 5, 2022 on day two of the 11th Annual David Buttles Memorial Tournament. The Mounties won 13-6. Since 1992, the Roadrunners have a 1-4 record against Mt. San Antonio with the most recent win occurring in 1993.

The winner of Friday and Saturday's best-of-three game first-round contest will advance to face the Super Regionals on May 9-11. The CCCAA Baseball State Championship will take place on May 24-26 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
