COD Men’s Golf opens up 2025 with 3rd place finish in Lompoc

COD Men's Golf opened up the 2025 season with a tough tournament, as the team finished 3rd in the 13-team tournament with Mason Montgomery and Sinjin Armstrong collected a tie for 8th place individual finish for the tournament.
The Roadrunners sent six participants to its first event, which was hosted at La Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc. The multi-day tournament really brought out the heavy hitters, as three of the eight 2024 CCCAA State finalists were represented, along with six Western State Conference teams and four NorCal teams. The Roadrunners were one of three representatives from the Orange Empire Conference at this event. Desert would finish with 810 putting them in 3rd place, 11-strokes ahead of the San Joaquin Delta Mustangs of Stockton. The defending 3C2A State Champions, the College of the Canyons Cougars of Santa Clarita, would claim their second straight tournament title.
Freshman Sinjin Armstrong (La Quinta H.S.) would lead the way for the Roadrunners, shooting a 7-over 79 on day one, then dropping a stroke on day two, to shoot a 6-over 78 for a total of 157 for an individual finish of 8th overall. Freshman Mason Montgomery (Palm Desert H.S.) shot an 8-over 80 on day one, then dropped 3 strokes to shoot a 5-over 77 to tie his teammate for a total of 157 for an individual finish of 8th overall. Sophomore Jacob Stacey (Twentynine Palms H.S.) shot an 83 on day one, then dropped 5 strokes to shoot a 6-over 78 for a total of 161. Freshman Linus Rindestad Utter (Handen (SWE) Fredrika Bremergymnasiet) shot an 81 on day one and an 86 on day two for a 167 and freshman Phar Vincent (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) shot an 80 on day one and an 88 on day two for a 168. Freshman Parker Vandergriff (Tigard (OR) H.S.) shot an 88 on day one and day two for a total of 176 to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.
COD will make their next appearance at Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul on Wednesday, February 12 at 11a as they participate in the Cuyamaca Classic.
