COD Men’s Golf takes 3rd place tie in Jamul

COD Men's Golf participated in their second event of the 2025 season, with three golfers setting or tying season lows, as the team finished tied for 3rd in the 9-team tournament with Mason Montgomery collecting a 1st place individual finish for the tournament.
The Roadrunners sent six participants to its second event, the Cuyamaca Classic, which was hosted at Steele Canyon Golf Course in Jamul which is about 20 miles east of downtown San Diego. Desert would finish with 387 putting them in a tie for 3rd place, 21-strokes ahead of the Riverside Tigers and 2-strokes back of the tournament champions and host, the Cuyamaca Coyotes.
Leading the way for the Roadrunners in Jamul was freshman Mason Montgomery (Palm Desert H.S.) who shot his best round of the season, shooting a 3-under 69, which was good enough to walk away as the individual champion of the tournament. Freshman Sinjin Armstrong (La Quinta H.S.) who also shot his best round of the season, would shoot a 3-over 75 and sophomore Jacob Stacey (Twentynine Palms H.S.) tied his season best round with a 6-over 78. Freshman Logan Marra (Palm Desert H.S.) participated in his first event of the season, shooting an 82 and freshman Phar Vincent (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) shot an 83. Freshman Linus Rindestad Utter (Handen (SWE) Fredrika Bremergymnasiet) shot an 87 to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.
COD will make their next appearance at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto on Wednesday, February 19 at 9a as they participate in the Mt. San Jacinto Eagle Classic.
