COD Men’s Golf Secures 3rd Place Finish at Regionals, Advances to CCCAA State Finals

College of the Desert Men's Golf continued its stellar 2025 campaign with a clutch performance at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Finals, finishing in 3rd place and earning a trip to the State Finals—the program's third appearance since 2016.

The Roadrunners took on the grueling 36-hole, single-day tournament on Monday, May 5, hosted by Cypress College at the Los Serranos Golf Club – South Course in Chino Hills. After a challenging start that saw Desert sitting in 6th place with a first-round score of 376—just outside of qualifying position—the team responded with resilience. Tightening up their play, the Roadrunners cut 13 strokes in round two, vaulting up the leaderboard to secure 3rd place, three strokes ahead of Orange Coast College. The event was won by College of the Canyons.

Top Roadrunner Performers

  • Mason Montgomery (Fr., Palm Desert H.S.) led the Roadrunners with a sensational comeback. After shooting a 5-over 77 in round one, he stormed back with a season-best 4-under 68, finishing with a 145 total and a tie for 8th place individually.

  • Logan Marra (Fr., Palm Desert H.S.) opened strong with a season-low 1-under 71 and followed with a 75 in round two for a total of 146, tying for 13th place.

  • Linus Rindestad Utter (Fr., Fredrika Bremergymnasiet, Sweden) also found his rhythm in the final round, improving on a 77 with a 2-under 70 to finish at 147 and tied for 15th.

  • Sinjin Armstrong (Fr., La Quinta H.S.) posted consistent rounds of 75-75 for a 150 total and tied for 26th place.

  • Jacob Stacey (So., Twentynine Palms H.S.) dropped a stroke in round two (76-75), finishing with 151 and tying for 31st.

  • Phar Vincent (Fr., Xavier College Prep) shot 79 in both rounds for a 158 total and tied for 51st.

  1. College of the Canyons – 357 / 362 = 719

  2. Santa Barbara City – 368 / 361 = 729

  3. College of the Desert – 376 / 363 = 739

  4. Orange Coast – 369 / 373 = 742

  5. Ventura – 367 / 377 = 744

    Up Next: CCCAA State Finals

The Roadrunners now turn their focus to the 3C2A State Championship, which will take place May 11–12 at the Bayonet Golf Club in Monterey. The event is hosted by Modesto Junior College.
