COD Men's Tennis ties the Warriors, 3-3

COD (0-1-1) had a match suspended due to darkness as the Roadrunners pulled a tie from the El Camino Warriors of Torrance (0-2-1) to open up Inland Empire Athletic Conference play, 3-3.
The Roadrunners welcomed new head coach Bruno Jaeger with a strong effort. Unfortunately, Desert was swept in doubles play. In singles play, sophomore Nathaniel Jimenez (Beaumont H.S.) and freshman Matthew Rubio (Palm Desert H.S.) won in straight sets. Freshman Jonathan Cruz Gonzalez (Cathedral City H.S.) won his set in a walk over and the deciding set by freshman Chandra Ishikawa (Kawagoe, Japan) was stuck in a grueling tiebreaker that was suspended due to darkness. Ishikawa won the first set 6-3, but the second set was tied a 6-6 with tiebreak going to 14-14 before it was called.
The next contest for the Roadrunners will continue Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) play by hosting the Mt. San Antonio Mounties of Walnut, on Tuesday, February 18, with the match beginning at 2p.
