Softball Cruises to Conference Win Over Victor Valley

VICTORVILLE, Calif. -- College of the Desert softball (5-12-1, 1-0) smashed eight hits in a 12-2 (5 inn.) Foothill Conference win over Victor Valley (1-17, 0-3) yesterday afternoon in Victorville.

Sophomore shortstop Kalen Gopperton (Cajon HS) led the Lady Roadrunners with two hits and four RBIs, while sophomore third baseman Taylor Stone (Palm Desert HS) went 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.  Sophomores Brianna Alcorn (Indio HS) and Liz Moreno (Desert Hot Springs HS) each knocked in two runs, while sophomore first baseman Amanda Martinez (Indio HS) walked three times and recorded one RBI.

Sophomore right-hander Yizel Nunez (Beaumont HS) earned the win on the mound for the Lady Roadrunners, allowing just two runs on eight hits over her five innings of work.

College of the Desert softball will be back in action next Wendesday, March 9 when they travel to Barstow for a 3 p.m. Foothill Conference matchup.
