COD Softball scores 3 in the 7th, walks-off Rams, 7-6

COD (18-5; 4-0) grabbed their 7th consecutive win, 9th out of 10 games, falling behind early, the Roadrunners rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, walking off the stunned Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (8-12; 3-3), 7-6.
The Roadrunners played against Victor Valley for the first time in program history in 1988 and hold a 46-14 overall record against the Rams. Desert has a 23-8 record against the Rams in Palm Desert.
Freshman right-handed starting pitcher Alyssa Martinez Sanchez (La Quinta H.S.) started out rocky, surrendering 3 runs in the top of the first, but rebounded nicely the rest of her outing, tossing 4 innings and grabbing 4 strikeouts in the no decision. Sophomore right-handed relief pitcher Arissa Gonzalez (Thermal Coachella Valley) took care of the remaining 3 innings, shutting down the Rams and grabbing her 5th win of the 2025 season. Freshman shortstop Mia Villalobos (Thermal Coachella Valley) returned to the lineup for the first time since March 1 and went 2 for 3, scoring the winning run. Sophomore catcher Jaylene Ramos (Yucca Valley H.S.) grabbed the game winning hit after going 0 for 3 and Victor Valley even walked the bases full to get to her. Ramos made them pay for that decision with an infield single that scored Villalobos.
The Roadrunners will be wrapping up their 6-game home stand on Friday, March 21 with a double header beginning at 4p with the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles of Menifee. The Roadrunners played against Mt. San Jacinto for the first time in program history in 1998 and hold a 26-23 overall record against the Eagles. Desert has a 16-10 record against the Eagles in Palm Desert.
