COD Women’s Soccer will travel to #1 Cypress 11/23 at 1:30p in SoCal Quarterfinals

COD Women's Soccer continues their historic playoff run as they won their first playoff game in program history on Wednesday, rolling on to the 2nd round of the SoCal Regional playoffs.

If you are planning on attending the game on Saturday, please review weather forecasts in advance and prepare accordingly, as it is going to be rainy and cold for most of the day in Cypress.

The game will take place on the campus of Cypress College at Ray Haas Field this Saturday, November 23 at 1:30 p.m. The address for Cypress College is 9200 Valley View St, Cypress, CA 90630, but the nearest parking lots are off of Holder Street and Lakeshore Drive. The soccer field is located on the east side of campus, just beyond the outfield wall of the softball field.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. There are no guest passes allowed.

You can make your cash only purchase of tickets at the gate. No advance purchases will be available.

Under the tutelage of second-year head coach Ramon Rivas, the #16 seeded Roadrunners Women's Soccer team ended the 2024 season claiming their 1st Conference championship and the first Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Coach of the Year award for a Desert head coach since 2018.

Rivas was awarded as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season tying the best overall record in program history with a 17-2-3 record and the first undefeated record in Conference history at 7-0-3. The Roadrunners tied for 1st in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) winning the first Conference Championship in program history, hosted their first 3C2A SoCal Regional Playoff game in program history and won their first Playoff game in program history.

The Roadrunners wrapped up the regular season undefeated in their final 14 games. They were rewarded with the 16 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Desert will face off with a Cypress Chargers team that finished the regular season with a record of 17-1-3, the Chargers ended the 2024 season in 2nd place the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a record of 11-1-2. The Chargers started the season 7-0-3 and have five wins in their last 5 games.

Cypress finished the 2023 season in 3rd place the OEC with a record of 10-3-1, with an overall record of 19-4-3. The Chargers were most recently in the playoffs in the 2023 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 6th seed, Cypress lost at #6 Folsom Lake in the 3C2A Championship Final, 5-4 on penalty kicks. The Chargers are co-coached by Erick Hurtarte and Randi Martinez in their 10th season.

The Roadrunners played against Cypress for the first time in program history in 2021 and hold an 0-2 overall record against the Chargers. Desert has an 0-1 record against the Chargers in Cypress. The last time these two teams faced one another in Cypress was September 7, 2021, where the Roadrunners fell, 6-2.

The winner of Saturday's second-round contest will advance to the Regional Semifinals on Tuesday (Nov. 26), traveling to either Santa Monica to face the #9 seeded Santa Monica Corsairs or to Chula Vista to face the #8 seeded Southwestern Apaches. The SoCal Regional Championship will take place on Saturday, November 30. Four wins are needed to advance to the CCCAA Soccer State Championship on Dec. 6 & Dec. 8 at American River College in Northeast Sacramento.
