Women's Tennis Cruises to 9-0 Victory Over Long Beach

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- College of the Desert women's tennis (6-2, 6-2) earned a dominate 9-0 victory over visiting conference foe, Long Beach, yesterday afternoon in Palm Desert.  

The duo of freshman Linda Guerzize (CNED, FR) and sophomore Yu Yamada (Yamamotogakuen, JP) got things rolling for the Lady Roadrunners, taking down their doubles opponents 8-0.  Freshmen Lauren Joy (Palm Desert HS) and Diana Cole (Sheridan HS, WY) teamed up to earn an 8-2 win, while freshman Miyako Kinoshita (La Quinta HS) and sophomore Karen Rodas (Palm Springs HS) took home an 8-0 triumph.

Head coach Jai Nettimi's squad swept through singles, as well, led by Guerzize's 6-1, 6-0 win.  Yamada earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while both Joy and Cole finished their matches at 6-0, 6-0.  Rodas was a 6-2, 6-2 winner, with Kinoshita rounding out the COD victors at 6-0, 6-1.  

College of the Desert women's tennis will be at home again this Thursday, as they host conference foe, El Camino.  Match time is set for 2 p.m.
