Women's Tennis Earns 7-2 Home Victory Against El Camino

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- College of the Desert women's tennis (7-2, 7-2) continued their streak of perfect play at home this season, as  they defeated El Camino (8-5, 5-3) 7-2 yesterday afternoon in Palm Desert.  

The duo of freshman Linda Guerzize (CNED, FR) and sophomore Yu Yamada (Yamamotogakuen, JP) opened with a doubles win of 8-4, while freshmen Lauren Joy (Palm Desert HS) and Diana Cole (Sheridan, WY)  followed with an 8-6 win.  

Guerzize (6-1, 6-0) and Yamada (6-3, 6-4) earned singles wins for head coach Jai Nettimi, with Joy (6-4, 6-2) and Cole (6-1, 6-2) taking home singles victories, as well. Freshman Miyako Kinoshita (La Quinta HS) also picked up a singles win for the Lady Roadrunners, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1.  

College of the Desert women's tennis will be back in action next Tuesday, March 22 when they travel to Rio Hondo for a 2 p.m. match.
