Women's Tennis Finishes Stellar Season with 5-3 Setback in SoCal Finals

NORWALK, Calif. -- After two upset wins, College of the Desert women's tennis (11-4, 9-3) came up short against a familiar foe in the Southern California Regional Championship, falling 5-3 to top-seeded Cerritos (24-1) on Saturday afternoon in Norwalk.  

Freshman Linda Guerzize (CNED, FR) was victorious in both of her matches, defeating her singles opponent, 6-4, 6-4, and then teaming up with sophomore Yu Yamada (Yamamotogakuen, JP) to earn an 8-4 doubles win.  Freshman Lauren Joy (Palm Desert) picked up the other match win for the Lady Roadrunners, defeating her singles opponent, 6-3, 6-4.

Linda Guerzize, who won the South Coast Conference singles title, along with two other singles and three doubles teams for College of the Desert women's tennis, will compete in the Ojai State Championships later this week.
