COD (1-0) fought their way to their first win since 2023, knocking off the pesky El Camino Warriors of Torrance (0-3) in South Coast Conference play, 5-4.
The Roadrunners returned to the court for the first time since 2023, having no team in the 2024 season and performed well. In doubles play, the 1's team of freshman Oriana Ramirez (Indio H.S.) and freshman Elyse Woodforde (Palm Desert H.S.) won easily, 8-2.
In singles play, freshman Trinity Miller (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep), freshman Liliana Ruiz (Thermal Coachella Valley) and Woodforde all won easily in straight sets. The deciding match was hard fought as freshman Zoe Lopez (Palm Desert H.S.) had to go the distance, with Lopez prevailing 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
The next contest for the Roadrunners will continue South Coast Conference (SCC) play by hosting the Mt. San Antonio Mounties of Walnut, on Tuesday, February 18, with the match beginning at 2p.
