COD Women's Volleyball serves community, hosts skills camp

In an effort to better "serve" our community, the College of the Desert Women's Volleyball Program, hosted a skills camp July 28, 2023, at the Cathedral City, Salvation Army.

What a fun night!

This was a great night with plenty of smiles from the families watching to the 5th graders on up to the high schoolers and of course, our Roadrunners.

Abel Rivera-Gutierrez, the Sports Coordinator for The Salvation Army Dick & Beverly Davis Corps Community Center in Cathedral City, commented in a recent email to COD Athletics.com, "COD Women's Volleyball ran a youth volleyball clinic at the Salvation Army in Cathedral City on Friday, July 28th 6pm. COD Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach Dana Graham accompanied more than a dozen Roadrunners for the two-hour clinic. Coach Graham championed this effort and SalArmy representatives volunteered their time."

The youths were led, by the student athletes, on how to: overhand serve, bump passing, hitting over the net and games on multiple courts.

Everyone could see the happiness and fun that came from our COD student athletes sharing their knowledge and love of the sport with the next generation of volleyball players.

Plus, the Salvation Army showed off their ping pong skills before the evening was over and they were fabulous hosts.

Thank you, Salvation Army, for helping the Roadrunners serve our Desert communities.
