COD Volleyball rushes past the Rams, 3-1

COD (11-13; 7-4) had five players collect season highs as the Roadrunners had some revenge on an earlier season loss by knocking off the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (10-9; 6-5), 3-1 (25-21, 11-25, 25-16, 25-13).

The Roadrunners played against Victor for the first time in program history in 1976 and hold a 21-40 overall record against them after falling at the Rams on October 13th, 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-12, 25-19). The Roadrunners hold a 13-18 record against the Rams in Palm Desert.

Sophomore outside hitter Melanie Hernandez (Thermal Coachella Valley) had a season high and team lead with 14 kills, tied a season high with 19 digs and had 3 service aces and freshman setter Ashley Estrada (Queen Creek (AZ) American Leadership Academy) had her second-highest number of set assists for the season with 34 and a season high with 17 digs. Freshman middle blocker Stacie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) had a season high 11 kills, an assist block and a solo block and freshman outside hitter Bella Branconier (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) had 9 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore libero Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) had a season high and team lead with 20 digs and had 5 set assists and freshman right side Sarah Nieto (La Quinta H.S.) had 3 service aces. Freshman defensive specialist Ashley Amidei (Indio Shadow Hills) tied a season high with 3 service aces.

The next match-up for the Roadrunners will at home hosting the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines on Sophomore Night, November 10th. The Roadrunners played against San Bernardino for the first time in program history in 1976, back when SBVC was named the Indians, and hold a 34-28 overall record against the Wolverines. Desert has a 17-14 record against the Wolverines in Palm Desert.
