COD Volleyball rolls to 9th sweep of the season, drops Coyotes, 3-0

COD (10-10; 5-4) grabbed career highs for several players, as Desert grabbed their 9th sweep of the season, knocking off the Cerro Coso Coyotes of Ridgecrest (4-13; 1-7) 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16).

The Roadrunners played against Cerro Coso for the first time in program history in 1977 and hold a 32-5 overall record against them after defeating the Coyotes in Ridgecrest on October 2nd, 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-16). The Roadrunners hold a 17-3 record against the Coyotes in Palm Desert.

Sophomore setter Ashley Estrada (Queen Creek (AZ) American Leadership Academy) set a career high in service aces with 5 and had her 14th match of the season with 20 or more set assists. Sophomore outside hitter Alexia Siani-Rader (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) had her 6th match with 10 or more kills and grabbed 4 service aces. Freshman outside hitter Clairie Thomas (La Quinta H.S.) had her 4th match of 15 or more kills and freshman setter Brianna Fabian (Indio H.S.) had her 4th match of the season with 5 or more set assists. Freshman middle blocker Alyssia Castro (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) tied a season high in service aces with 2 and set a season high in kills with 6 and freshman middle blocker Madyson Duran (Rancho Mirage H.S.) made the most of her first start of the season, setting a season high for kills with 4.

The next match-up for the Roadrunners will be at the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville on October 30th at 5p. The Roadrunners played against Victor Valley for the first time in program history in 1976 and hold a 22-41 overall record against them after defeating the Rams in Palm Desert on October 4th, 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 16-25, 25-23). The Roadrunners hold an 8-23 record against the Rams in Victorville. The next home games for Desert is Sophomore Night on November 1st at 5p when the Roadrunners are hosting the Copper Mountain Fighting Cacti of Joshua Tree. The Roadrunners played against Copper Mountain for the first time in program history in 2022 and hold a 5-0 overall record against them after defeating the Fighting Cacti in Joshua Tree on October 16th, 3-0 (25-3, 25-5, 25-2). Desert has a 2-0 record against the Fighting Cacti in Palm Desert.
