Valerie Calderon became a full time Athletic Trainer at College of the Desert, after three years of being an On-Call Athletic Trainer.  Valerie has been a part of the COD Family since 2014, when she was brought on as an Adjunct Kinesiology Instructor, teaching various classes within the department.

She has worked in the Desert for the past five years, as the Head Athletic Trainer at Desert Hot Springs High School.

Valerie is no stranger to Community College Athletics, as she attended Pasadena City College, and played Intercollegiate Softball for two years. She then transferred to Cal State Monterey Bay, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, ending her softball career. Valerie then went on to receive her Master’s in Athletic Training, from California Baptist University.

Valerie is very excited to be a part of the Roadrunner family and help these student-athletes grow on and off the field.

“We learn by experience, both good and bad. I challenge my students and student-athletes to learn something new every day, as it will only prepare them for the future”.
