Baseball Drops Road Game at Riverside, 7-1

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- College of the Desert baseball came up short in their lone game of the week, as they were beaten 7-1 by Riverside Friday afternoon in Riverside.

Sophomore center fielder Dallas Asuncion collected two hits in the loss, while sophomore shortstop Sean Romo drove in the lone Roadrunner run.  Sophomores, left fielder Dax Roerig and second baseman Bobby Hosington each collected a hit, as well. 

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jumpei Akanuma suffered the loss on the mound for COD, surrendering six runs (one earned) over 3.2 innings of duty.  He allowed seven hits and struck out one.  Freshman right-hander Jake Patterson was strong in four innings of relief work, striking out three batters while allowing just three hits. 

Roadrunner baseball travels to face San Diego Mesa on Tuesday at 2 p.m., before opening its home schedule on Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m.
