Baseball Blasts Its Way to 6-1 Victory Over San Diego Mesa

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Six different Roadrunners collected RBIs in a 10-hit affair, as College of the Desert (2-2) baseball mashed its way to a 6-1 win over San Diego Mesa  yesterday afternoon in San Diego.

Sophomore left fielder Dax Roerig (Oceanside, CA/El Camino) went 2-5 with a double, while sophomores Sean Romo (Honolulu, HI/Kalani HS) and Dallas Asuncion (Honolulu, HI/Kalani HS) each collected two hits and an RBI.  Sophomores Cole Danielson (Cathedral City, CA/Cathedral City HS), Luc Powers-Hubbard (Bonney Lake, WA/Sumner HS) and Bobby Hosington (Battleground, WA/Battleground HS), along with freshman Travis Tanaka (Honolulu, HI/St. Louis HS) each recorded an RBI.  

Sophomore left-handed pitcher Zackery Novis (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners, as he tossed six strong innings of four-hit ball, allowing just one run while striking out four.  Dallas Asuncion pitched three shutout innings in relief, striking out one and walking two.  

College of the Desert will open its 2016 home schedule this Thursday evening when they host Palomar in the David Buttles Tournament.  First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
