COD (10-23; 8-9) swam circles around their opponents ready to strike at moment's notice, but stranding 15 runners on base was a tough hill to overcome as the number nine team in California, the San Marcos Palomar Comets (26-6; 16-1), took the game and the series, 6-3.

The top four hitters for the Roadrunners went 7 for 16 as Desert had no problem getting on base, but getting home was a completely different story. By the end of the sixth inning the game was on pace to be a four hour marathon, the pace quickened on the back-half of the game, which concluded in three hours and ten minutes.

Freshman right handed starting pitcher Jake Mesa (La Quinta H.S.) tossed six complete innings, surrendering four runs, all earned on six hits, walking one and striking out five. Sophomore catcher Travis Tanaka (Honolulu (HI) St. Louis) had a 2 for 4 day at the plate, grabbing a run and a run batted in, along with the only double of the game for the Roadrunners. 

Freshman short stop Allan Dong (Honolulu (HI) Kalani), hitting out of the leadoff spot, went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a walk and sophomore right fielder Jason Nall (Playa del Rey St. Bernard) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two walks on the afternoon.

Freshman third baseman Nicholas Follett (Toronto (ON) Bishop Allen Academy) went 2 for 5 and freshman left fielder Austin Clifton (Romoland Heritage) went 2 for 2 with a walk in the game.
