COD Baseball falls to the Huskies, 12-1

COD (0-3) pitchers wildly struggled to find the plate, finding instead East Los Angeles Huskies (3-0) batters, as the Roadrunners mistakenly plunked 11 batters, falling at home, 12-1.

The Huskies opened up the scoring in the top half of the second, plating a couple of runs, but the Roadrunners would cut that score in half in the bottom of the frame. Freshman center fielder Jordan Crisp (Lakewood Mayfair) opened up the inning with a single then advanced to second on a passed ball and then scampered to third on a wild pitch. Then sophomore short stop Jerred Soriano (Honolulu (HI) Moanalua) brought home Crisp on a ground out to shot, getting Desert to within one run, 2-1.

Unfortunately, that would be all of the offense on the day for the Roadrunners, as the Huskies added five runs in the fourth, two more in the fifth and a three-run home run in the ninth, to take the game 12-1.

Desert used six pitchers on the afternoon and freshman left fielder Adam Lopez (La Quinta H.S.) connected on the only extra base hit for the Roadrunners on the day.
