COD Baseball: Hernandez signs letter with Benedictine Mesa

COD Baseball outfielder Joshua Hernandez (Palm Desert H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with Benedictine University Mesa.

The 5-6, 160-pound outfielder from Palm Desert H.S. played his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Roadrunners, starting in all 23 games during his abbreviated second season. During his freshman season, Hernandez, started 34 of 38 games, batting .298 with 11 RBI's and 30 runs scored. Hernandez's sophomore campaign was stopped short due to the Coronavirus closure, but he was batting a very strong .363 with 14 RBI's and 13 runs scored, prior to the end of the 2020 season.

Hernandez will join fellow 2020 Roadrunners Baseball teammate, second baseman Christopher Burke (Temecula Valley), at Benedictine University Mesa. Burke signed with the Redhawks on February 24th.

Benedictine University Mesa is located in Mesa, Arizona which is about 20 miles east of Phoenix. The BenU Redhawks play at Gene Autry Park and the team is coached by 2nd year head coach, Brian McCabe. In the 2020 season, the Redhawks were 7-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 22-7, ending the season prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic ranked #19 in the Nation. Benedictine University Mesa is in the California Pacific Conference of the NAIA.
