COD Football to travel to Santa Ana for the 2023 Southern California Bowl

COD Football will travel to the Santa Ana Dons on Sunday, November 19 for a 4 p.m. kick off in the 2023 Southern California Bowl.

The game will take place at Eddie West Field at Santa Ana Stadium at 602 N. Flower St. in Santa Ana. ** Parking is $10 and is cash only. **

** No advance transactions will be available, cash only tickets must be purchased at the gate. **

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. There are no guest passes allowed.

Since helming the program in 2014, Jack Steptoe has led the Roadrunners to three Bowl games. This season, Desert went 6-4 overall and 3-2 in American Division – Metro Conference play, which was good enough to secure a third-place finish.

The Roadrunners broke some important records and settled some scores from decades past during the course of the 2023 season, as Desert defeated Glendale for only the second time in program history and defeated Los Angeles Pierce for the first time since 2001.

This is the first Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Bowl game for the Roadrunners since the 2022 season, when Desert traveled to the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros in the Beach Bowl. The Roadrunners would fall short in that contest, 44-23.

Desert will face off with a Santa Ana Dons team that finished the regular season with a record of 8-2, the Dons ended the 2023 season in second place in the American Division – Metro Conference with a record of 4-1. The Dons started the season 4-1.

Santa Ana finished the 2022 season in 2nd place the American Division – Metro Conference with a record of 5-5, with an overall record of 4-1. The Dons were most recently in a Bowl game in the 2021 season, where Santa Ana lost at the Pasadena City Lancers in the Southern California Bowl, 28-21. The Dons are coached by Anthony White in his 3rd season.

Desert and Santa Ana have played each other 5 times since 2010, the most recent time being on November 11, 2023, the Roadrunners lost at Santa Ana, 49-28. The narrowest loss in program history, was in 2010 in Palm Desert, when the Dons won, 47-44. Santa Ana holds an overall advantage in the series, 5-0 and Desert has an 0-3 record at Santa Ana.

Desert has played in ten Bowl games, winning three of them. The last Bowl game the Roadrunners won was in 1994, defeating the El Camino Warriors of Torrance, 59-48 in the Southern California Bowl.
