Some very special recognition goes out to Roadrunners Men's Basketball coach Trent Skinner who was recently selected by Silver Waves Media as one of 50 impactful coaches in Men's Community College Basketball in the nation.

Coach Trent Skinner had his hands full when taking over the College of the Desert Men's Basketball program in 2018. Prior to his first year, the Roadrunners went 0-23. Upon taking over, Coach Skinner lead the program to a .500 record (14-14) for the first time in over six years. In his second year, the 2019-20 season, Coach Skinner's Roadrunners went 16-12.

The 2019-20 season was an impressive one for Coach Trent Skinner and the College of the Desert Men's Basketball program. Looking to build upon an impressive turnaround of the entire Roadrunners Men's Program after his first season in Palm Desert, Coach Skinner sought out giants to slay all over Southern California. In addition to moving into a new Conference for the 2019-20 season, the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC), his non-Conference schedule was one of the toughest in the state. Leading to the Roadrunners to receive a top 30 ranking in a poll of the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA).

Coach Skinner commented about being named one of the "50 Most Impactful Coaches in Community College Men's Basketball," stating, "I would like to thank Silver Waves Media for including me on the list with such great coaches from all around the country. This recognition is more about the COD Men's basketball players and coaches along with the entire athletic support staff."

The report by Silver Waves Media, wrapped up their comments about Coach Skinner with, "(His) growth as the head coach has been outstanding and he has proved himself as a top coach on the West Coast."
