COD Men’s Basketball: Rich & Howard sign letters with Randall University

COD Men's Basketball guard John Rich (Palm Springs H.S.) and forward Kristopher Howard (Palm Springs H.S.) have both signed a letters of intent with Randall University in Moore, Oklahoma.

Rich, the 6-3, 170 guard from Palm Springs H.S., started 27 of 24 games for Desert, averaged 9.7 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. Rich, who spent his freshman season at Monterey Peninsula College, was a key contributor to getting the Roadrunners to back-to-back years of double digit wins for the first time since 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Rich had his best game at home against the Palo Verde Pirates of Blythe on January 2nd. In that game he would tie a season high with five three pointers, scoring a season high 22 points.

Rich had posted to his social media the following statement about his decision to continue his Basketball career, "First off I'd like to thank God for blessing me with the dying passion to persevere and weather through any storm. My journey hasn't always been easy, but my dying love for the game has always kept me right in the race. From being overlooked to having big game's in the face of adversity I've always stayed determined. Second I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for always being there to pick me up, with that being said I will be continuing my basketball and school career at Randall University."

Howard, the 6-4, 165 forward from Palm Springs H.S. played a key role off of the bench for the Roadrunners, leaping off of the bench for 20 of 28 games for Desert, averaging 5.6 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. Howard had his best game at home against the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville on January 25th. In that game he would shoot a perfect 7 for 7 from the field, scoring a season high 17 points.

Randall University is located in Moore, Oklahoma, which is 14 miles south of Oklahoma City. The RU Saints play in the Activities Building and the team is coached by 8-year veteran head coach, Mark Berokoff. During the 2019-20 season, the Saints were 2-2 in conference play, with an overall record of 11-16. RU is in the National Christian College Athletic Association (N2C2A) Division II - Southwest.
