COD Men’s Golf grabs strong 2nd place finish in Jamul

COD Men's Golf had their best finish of the season so far, as the team finished 2nd in the 9-team tournament with Yuo Torii collecting a tie for 5th place individual finish for the tournament.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its second event, the Cuyamaca Classic, which was hosted at Steele Canyon Golf Course in Jamul which is about 20 miles east of downtown San Diego. Desert would finish with 403 putting them in 2nd place, 1-stroke ahead of the Saddleback Gauchos and 6-strokes back of the tournament champion and host, the Cuyamaca Coyotes.

Leading the way for the Roadrunners in Jamul was sophomore Yuo Torii (Montverde (FL) Montverde Academy) who shot his second-best round of the season, shooting a 5-over 77 and in his firt tournament of the year, sophomore Ryln Hadley, Jr. (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 6-over 78. Sophomore Se Min Song (Haeundae-gu (KOR) Changwon Nam) also shot his second-best round of the season, shooting an 8-over 80. Freshman Jayson Bittner (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and sophomore Tyler Cunningham-Watson (Palm Desert H.S.) both shot a season low 84. Freshman Jacob Stacey (Twentynine Palms H.S.) shot a 95 to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.

The next match for the Roadrunners will be on February 21st at 9a, where they will continue non-Conference play by traveling to the Mt. San Jacinto Eagle Classic at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto.
