John Bown joined the Desert Men’s Golf Team as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in January 2024. He is an Iowa native, received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Iowa State University, and his MBA from the University of St Thomas and Boston College. He worked at General Mills in Minneapolis for 35 years, retiring as Finance Director in January 2012. He and his wife Kim live in Minneapolis, but winter in Palm Desert. They have been married for 46 years and have three children and five grandchildren. Although his passion for the game far exceeds his talent, he is looking forward to helping his son with the 2024 Roadrunners Golf Team.
