Men's Soccer Controls Play En Route to First Victory

PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert men's soccer used five first-half goals to cruise to their first victory of the 2015 season, as they defeated visiting Imperial Valley 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in Palm Desert.

Brandon Montano opened the scoring in the 4th minute, as he volleyed in Christian Nehme's cross into the penalty area.  Nehme picked up his second assist in the 22nd minute when his cross found its way to Juan De Miranda for an easy tap in.  

Edgar Duran finished one from in tight in the game's 23rd minute, before Montano got on board with an unassisted tally in 37th minute.  Jose Silva capped the scoring barrage in the half's waning moments, as he scored on a rebound just before the break.  

Sergio Hernandez made one save during his action in the second half, while Desert fired a total of 18 shots on net.  

College of  the Desert (1-2) returns to the field this Saturday, September 12 for an away contest at Yavapai (AZ).  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
