COD Men’s Soccer left frustrated by tie with Comets, 1-1

COD (3-13-3; 3-10-2) held a 1-0 lead for most of the match, but a defensive miscommunication left an opportunity and the home side had to settle for a draw with the San Marcos Palomar Comets (5-10-5; 4-8-3), 1-1.

The Roadrunners were in full attack mode the entire first half on Sophomore Day, as they took 15 shots, ending up with 23 on the afternoon. The all-out assault final bore fruit in the 32nd minute as sophomore forward Joao Stefano Leite (Sao Paulo, Brazil) pushed a through ball forward for sophomore forward Christian Nehme (Colorado Springs (CO) Cheyenne Mountain) who buried the shot into the upper right corner of the net, giving Desert a 1-0 advantage.

That one goal lead would hold through the first half and carry over another 15 minutes, then the Comets would strike in the 61st minute, leaving the Roadrunners defense wondering. Desert would play the rest of the game on full throttle attack mode, but could not break through.
