COD (7-1) faced off against the California Lutheran University Kingsmen (3-3) on Sunday in a non-conference match, taking the win against the four-year University, 6-3.

Taking the sole win for Desert in doubles play, the team of sophomore Kalman Boyd (Solana Beach Fusian Academy) and freshman Alex Kuperstein (Palm Desert H.S.) played a tough match and won, 8-4. The Kingsmen, an NCAA Division III school from Thousand Oaks, would take the next two matches, one due to a walkover.

Starting off singles play for the Roadrunners, Boyd overwhelmed the Kingsmen, winning in two sets, 6-3 and 6-3. Continue the push forward, Kuperstien also won in two sets, only allowing one point for Cal. Lutheran in the second set, 6-3 and 6-1. Freshman Saar Rogovski (Rosh HaAyin (ISR) Menachem Begin) played a close match ultimately taking the win in two sets, 6-3 and 7-5. In the toughest fought battled between Desert and the Kingsmen, freshman Syed Hosain (Abu Dhabi (UAE) GEMS American Academy) came out on top, winning in an extra set, 6-4, 3-6, and 10-7. With the final victory for the Roadrunners, freshman Sebastian Gomez Romero (Palm Desert H.S.) did not allow a single point, winning in an outstanding performance, 6-0 and 6-0.

The next match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be in San Diego on March 14th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) as they face the San Diego City Knights.

College of the Desert defeated California Lutheran University, 6-3 in non-conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
