COD Men’s Tennis grabs top spot in final ITA rankings

COD Men's Tennis grabbed the #1 spot in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) CCCAA Men's National Rankings.

According to the wearecollegetennis.com website, "The ITA Collegiate Tennis CCCAA Women's National Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point were released for the 2022 spring season. The National Rankings include the Top-20 teams, Top-50 singles players, and Top-25 doubles teams from across the CCCAA." to the wearecollegetennis.com website, "The ITA Collegiate Tennis CCCAA Women's National Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point were released for the 2022 spring season. The Roadrunners team finished the 2022 season as the top team in the State, winning their 16th CCCAA State Men's Tennis Championship. In addition, several individual players and doubles teams participated deep into their respective State Championship brackets.

As a result, freshman Marco Alvarez (Chula Vista Eastlake) was ranked #2 and his regular doubles partner, freshman Raymundo Chavez (Ensenada (BCN, MX) Centro de Bachillerato Tecnologico Inds. Servicos (CBT is 41) was ranked #3 in the final ITA CCCAA Men's National Rankings.

Freshman Eita Ishikawa (Yokkaichi (JPN) Yokkaichi Technical) also made the Top-50 singles list, securing a #10 ranking and his regular doubles partner, freshman Jiaxi Ma (Irvine Woodbridge), joined him on the list as well, ranked #18.

Teammate, freshman Matthew Shaw (Baton Rouge (LA) GED Testing Online), was the final member of the Roadrunners to make the Top-50 singles list, securing a #27 slot.

In the Top-25 doubles teams list, the team of Alvarez and Chavez snagged a #2 ranking and right on their heels was the team of Ishikawa and Ma, who were ranked #7.
