COD Men’s Cross Country finishes 17th at GWC Classic

COD entered their third event of the 2017 season at Central Park in Huntington Beach for the Golden West Central Park Classic, where the team finished 17th overall on the 4 mile course.

The Roadrunners finished with 447 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in Huntington Beach was sophomore Jesus Garcia (Desert Hot Springs H.S.), collecting a 71st place finish and a time of 24:56.4, dropping 38 seconds from his previous best time.

Right behind was freshman David Hernandez (La Quinta H.S.) who finished 89th, collecting a time of 26:17.4 in his first event of the 2017 season and freshman Christian Cardoza (Cathedral City H.S.), who crossed the finish line at 26:40.1, besting his time by 80 seconds and good enough for 93rd place.

Sophomore Bryan Meyers (La Quinta H.S.) wrapped up a 94th place finish with a time of 27:03.7 and Freshman Christopher Figueroa (Thermal Coachella Valley) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 28:00.6, finishing 91 seconds faster than his previous best, placing 100th.

Sophomore Albert Blanco (Palm Springs H.S.) and sophomore Jose Verdejo (Cordoba (Spain) I.E.S. Séneca) finished 107th and 110th for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.
