COD Men’s Cross Country finishes 12th at Golden West Invitational

COD had all five finishers grab season bests on a fast course as the Roadrunners entered their third event of the 2019 season at Central Park in Huntington Beach for the Golden West Central Park Classic, where the team finished 12th overall on the 4-mile course. 

The Roadrunners finished with 295 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in Huntington Beach was freshman Dominick Jahnig (La Quinta, H.S.), collecting a 48th place finish, dropping 17 seconds off of his season best finish time, crossing the line with a time of 23:53.09.

Sophomore David Hernandez (La Quinta, H.S.) finished 58th, dropping 81 seconds off of his season best finish time, crossing the line with a time of 24:34.43 and right on Hernandez 's heels was freshman Leonel Benitez (La Quinta Summit) finishing 59th, dropping 47 seconds off of his season best finish time, crossing the line with a time of 24:35.88.

Freshman Esahi Bravo (Indio H.S.) wrapped up a 60th place finish, dropping 1:44 off of his season best finish time, crossing the line with a time of 24:48.82 sophomore Joseph Oropeza (Rancho Mirage H.S.) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 25:46.03, dropping 1:17 off of his season best finish time, crossing the line finishing 70th.

Sophomore Bronn Olson (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Albert Salomon (Rancho Mirage H.S.) finished 76th and 85th respectively for the Roadrunners on the afternoon. Freshman Sebastian Melendres (Palm Desert H.S.) finished with a time of 29:21.77 and sophomore Guillermo Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) finished with a time of 33:54.20.
