COD Softball opens up Conference play, falls to Griffins, 9-0

COD (0-7; 0-1) opened up Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with the El Cajon Grossmont Griffins (3-4; 1-0), falling in five innings, 9-0. 

The Griffins would send nine batters to the plate in the top of the first, crossing home five times and leaving the Roadrunners in a tough spot early. Sophomore left fielder Amanda Martinez (Indio H.S.) took a leadoff walk and turned that into a stolen base in the bottom of the first inning.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Angelika Cabanyog (0-4) (Indio Shadow Hills) tossed five complete innings, surrendering nine runs, five earned on ten hits, walking one and striking out two.
